Post-doctorat - Bioelectrochemical biogas upgrade

Post-doctorat - Bioelectrochemical biogas upgrade

Post-doctorat - 24 mois - Mars/Avril 2024

Context

To meet growing energy demands sustainably, economies need to prioritize bioenergy and biogas from waste materials, such as agro-industrial waste. However, biogas produced from such waste must undergo significant upgrading to enable its injection into the gas grid. To contribute to the forthcoming energy transition we are seeking to develop a bioelectrochemical biomethanation process to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of biogas upgrading.

We are looking for a postdoc scholar with training in bioelectrochemistry and electrochemical engineering, to develop a bioelectrochemical biogas upgrading reactor and thus aid biomethane production from agro-industrial waste. The scholar will be hosted in the PROSE unit (INRAE, Antony - Île-de-France, https://www6.jouy.inrae.fr/prose_eng/Axes-of-research) and will interact with an active network of engineers and microbiologists in the framework of a project funded by the CARNOT 3BCAR Institute (https://3bcar.fr/). Additionally, the scholar will spend time in the LGC unit (CNRS, Toulouse, https://lgc.cnrs.fr/?cn-reloaded=1) aiming to develop alternative anode materials.

Desired Qualifications

  • Practical expertise in electrochemical engineering and/or bioelectrochemical systems
  • Proven track record in designing and operating reactors
  • Familiarity with analytical and electrochemical techniques
  • Demonstrated ability in scientific writing
  • Passionate about fostering teamwork, collaboration, and interdisciplinary approaches
  • Experience in developing electrode materials is a bonus

Application

To submit an application, the prospective scholar should contact Eleftheria Ntagia and Jean-Marie Fontmorin including a CV and a short (half a page) cover letter.
